The New Jersey Jazz Quartet plays jazz in its true expression, not homogenized by addition of popular trends. Their repertoire includes the music of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, as well as straight-ahead standards by Antônio Carlos Jobim, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, and others.

The quartet features: Dr. Charles Frantz, guitar Peter Lin, trombone Rick Fiori, drums Tom Littwin, bass The New Jersey Jazz Quartet was named and inspired by Dr. Hassan Williams, the first African-American band leader in the 82nd Airborne. He taught in the Newark, New Jersey public school system for over twenty years. He played with and knew many of the jazz greats. Dr. Williams passed away in 2017. |
